  《英語(yǔ)詞匯教與學(xué)》的閱讀對(duì)象是將英語(yǔ)作為第二語(yǔ)言或外語(yǔ)的英語(yǔ)教師。《英語(yǔ)詞匯教與學(xué)》的主旨是把英語(yǔ)詞匯的教學(xué)系統(tǒng)化、理論化,為英語(yǔ)詞匯的教學(xué)提供理論依據(jù)和實(shí)踐指導(dǎo)?!队⒄Z(yǔ)詞匯教與學(xué)》的指導(dǎo)思想是:作者相信對(duì)詞匯發(fā)展系統(tǒng)化和理論化的研究可以最終促進(jìn)詞匯的教學(xué)。書中參照和選用了過(guò)去一百年間語(yǔ)言教師和研究者所取得的理論研究成果、進(jìn)行的實(shí)驗(yàn)探索和課堂教學(xué)實(shí)踐。對(duì)于我國(guó)目前的英語(yǔ)教學(xué)實(shí)際來(lái)說(shuō),該書的出版是非常有意義的。詞匯學(xué)習(xí)的重要性不言而喻,它貫穿了整個(gè)語(yǔ)言學(xué)習(xí)的過(guò)程。一定的詞匯量是順利進(jìn)行聽(tīng)、說(shuō)、讀、寫、譯等語(yǔ)言交流的基礎(chǔ)。目前,以大學(xué)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)為例,絕大部分詞匯教學(xué)被包含在各門基礎(chǔ)英語(yǔ)課的教學(xué)過(guò)程當(dāng)中。例如,在閱讀課、聽(tīng)力課或口語(yǔ)課上對(duì)生詞的解釋。其內(nèi)容大多為使用生詞表對(duì)該詞的音、形、義等方面進(jìn)行講解。教學(xué)過(guò)程中普遍存在的問(wèn)題有:一方面,許多教師缺乏對(duì)于詞匯教學(xué)理論和相關(guān)的科學(xué)測(cè)試方式的了解以及對(duì)學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)策略的研究,從而不能科學(xué)地幫助學(xué)生更有效地學(xué)習(xí)。另一方面,學(xué)生為了過(guò)級(jí)考試而片面追求純粹的詞匯量的增長(zhǎng),錯(cuò)誤地認(rèn)為只要詞匯達(dá)到了具體的數(shù)量要求,英語(yǔ)水平就會(huì)提高,考試成績(jī)也會(huì)相應(yīng)地提高。他們?nèi)鄙賹?duì)于詞匯劃分知識(shí)的了解,不知道對(duì)于出現(xiàn)頻率不同的詞需要不同的學(xué)習(xí)策略,其后果就是時(shí)間花費(fèi)多而學(xué)習(xí)成效小。同時(shí),學(xué)生們片面地認(rèn)為詞匯的學(xué)習(xí)只是記住單詞的中文意思,而不了解詞義學(xué)習(xí)所包含的豐富內(nèi)容?!队⒄Z(yǔ)詞匯教與學(xué)》針對(duì)英語(yǔ)詞匯教學(xué)過(guò)程中遇到的具有普遍性的問(wèn)題,在理論分析的基礎(chǔ)上通過(guò)具體的舉例說(shuō)明,一一做出解答?!队⒄Z(yǔ)詞匯教與學(xué)》雖然理論性強(qiáng),但語(yǔ)言清晰易懂,并附有內(nèi)容豐富的實(shí)際操作指導(dǎo),讓英語(yǔ)教師在學(xué)習(xí)理論時(shí)并不覺(jué)得枯燥。
